Muscle recovery after training: the role of deep tissue

You stack gym, padel and running on the seafront promenade. How to avoid overtraining? Deep tissue has a real place in your routine.

Deep tissue massage for muscle recovery

What deep tissue actually does

Deep tissue is not « a stronger massage ». It's a precise manual job, layer by layer, that acts on fasciae and deep circulation. The goal: release the adhesions that form between muscle fibres after effort and slow recovery.

When to schedule it during the week

The classic mistake is booking deep tissue the day after a big session. At that moment your fibres are still inflamed and the manual work risks amplifying the pain. The right timing: 48 to 72 hours after the session, or on a full off day.

Combining with a coherent routine

Massage doesn't replace mobility or sleep. A deep tissue every two or three weeks, paired with 10 minutes of daily mobility work and 7–8 hours of sleep, is enough for most of our sports clients to maintain their training volume injury-free.
